The House Committee on Trade and Industry pushed for the equal protection of consumers, service providers, and motorcycle delivery riders. The committee chaired by Valenzuela City Rep. Weslie Gatchalian deliberated on House Bill 6958 or the “Food and Grocery Delivery Services Protection Act” authored by AKO BICOL Party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin, Jr., in view of the abuses experienced by some motorcycle delivery riders who advance the purchase price for orders and end up with the unreasonable or abrupt cancellation of orders, with customers declining to receive and pay for orders, or even being provided false addresses by bogus customers. During the online meeting held Thursday, the committee approved the creation of a technical working group headed by Gatchalian to consolidate HBs 6958 and 6122, or the “Internet Transactions Act”.
