In its continued commitment to deliver social justice to Filipino coconut farmers, the House Committee on Agriculture and Food began deliberations Tuesday on a bill establishing a Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Trust Fund. Committee Chair Rep. Wilfrido Mark Enverga said the goal is to approve a version of the measure that will address the objections of President Rodrigo Duterte when he vetoed a similar measure in the 17th Congress. Enverga hopes that the new measure will remain acceptable to stakeholders as well. Rep. Sharon Garin, chair of the technical working group that consolidated 17 coco levy trust fund bills, likewise said that the passage of the yet-unnumbered substitute bill would be the committee's greatest legacy.
