Deputy Speaker Evelina Escudero on Monday led the House of Representatives in the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree to welcome the most joyful season of the year. In her speech, Escudero said that beyond traditions and ornaments, Christmas is the season of giving, of love, and of hope. "It is the season that gives light amidst the darkness and challenges in the past year. As such, the putting up of lights is a symbol of the hope that Christmas brings,” Escudero said. The event, hosted by Miss Global 2016 Camille Jensen Hirro, was attended by House and Secretariat officials and employees who shared the moment and took photos with their colleagues. The House was further serenaded with uplifting Christmas songs by the award-winning Payatas Kids Choir. Among those present were Deputy Speakers Deogracias Victor Savellano, Prospero Pichay Jr. Rose Marie "Baby" Arenas, and Aurelio Gonzales Jr., and Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
