After a month-long break, the House of Representatives led by Speaker Alan Peter “Compañero” Cayetano resumed session on Monday and immediately buckled down to work. Among their accomplishments was the approval on 3rd and final reading of House Joint Resolution No. 19 extending the validity of the 2019 budget to December 31, 2020 and House Bill No. 4933 postponing the May 2020 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections to the 1st Monday of December 2022. Speaker Cayetano also administered the oath-taking of 2 new House Members -- Reps. Shirlyn Bañas Nograles (1st District, South Cotabato) and Macnell Lusotan (Party-list, MARINO). Meanwhile, the House Members led by House leaders, among them Deputy Speakers Paolo Duterte, Raneo Abu and Deogracias Victor Savellano, and Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, welcomed to the Plenary Hall floor outgoing Ambassador of China to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua before the House awarded him the Congressional Medal of Achievement.
