The House of Representatives needs to tackle and approve just one or two more bills before finally saying it has accomplished the legislative priorities or requirements of President Rodrigo Duterte. During Monday’s flag-raising at the House of Representatives, guest speaker Rep. Florida Robes (Lone District, San Jose Del Monte City) said former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo told her when they met that the House has just one or two measures left of the 19 priority bills of President Duterte. “Kahapon nagkita kami ni Speaker GMA and she told me, ‘Rida, we have two more to go, two bills to go’. Este one na lang pala ang utang natin kay President Duterte,” Robes said. House Acting Secretary-General Roberto Maling shared that Speaker Arroyo's marching orders upon assuming the speakership was to help the President reach his legislative priorities, make sure the House Secretariat is functioning efficiently and basic services are delivered well. “As the days have gone by, kakaunti na lang yung hahabulin natin. Siguro one or two na lang yung sa legislative priorities ni Presidente plus yung dinagdag ni Speaker. In terms of the delivery of services, so far so good. I would personally say the performance (rating) of the Secretariat would be between very satisfactory and outstanding,” Maling said. The Bangsamoro Basic Law, Ease of Doing Business Act, National Land Use Act, Rice Tariffication, Department of Disaster Management and Universal Health Care bills are just among the priority measures passed by the House. Among those who attended the flag-raising ceremony were Deputy Secretaries-General Ramon Ricardo Roque, Arlene Dada-Arnaldo, Elisa Navalta, Romulo Emmanuel Miral Jr., Edgardo Pangilinan, Floro Banaybanay, Jose Ma. Antonio Tuaño, Annalou Nachura, and David Robert Amorin. | Ma. Victoria Palomar/ Gilbert Engay
