Delegates of the 13th Meeting of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Fact-Finding Committee (AIFOCOM) to Combat the Drug Menace visited on Friday the Department of Health-Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) in Tagaytay City whose mission is to re-integrate into society individuals who have fallen victims of drug abuse through sustainable programs of treatment and rehabilitation. The delegates led by AIFOCOM Chairman Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers inspected the DOH-TRC's facilities and exchanged ideas with the officials and staff of the center and patients undergoing rehabilitation. Dr. Ronnie Del Mundo, chief of the DOH-TRC, said there are about 300 all-male patients presently undergoing rehabilitation at the center. Barbers, chairman of the House committee on dangerous drugs, along with AIFOCOM Secretary Samar Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento and Pangasinan Rep. Rosemarie Arenas encouraged the patients to take seriously their rehabilitation program so they can soon go back to their families and start a new life. Quirino Rep. Dakila Carlo Cua,chairman of the AIPA 2017 national organizing committee, Cavite Rep. Abraham Tolentino and House officials led by Secretary-General Atty. Cesar Strait Pareja also joined the AIFOCOM delegates who were entertained by the DOH-TRC staff with famous local dances. Prior to the DOH-TRC visit, Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Tolentino welcomed the delegates at the Tagaytay Highlands where they had a view of the scenic Taal Volcano. The delegates also expressed support for President Duterte's anti-drugs campaign by flashing the Duterte signature fist during a photo session.
